I just stumbled your site. Great article. Another way to generate a ton of traffic which has worked well for me is to write articles for well known high traffic sites. If the content is valuable they will except it and allow you to add a link in the resource box to your site.

I like your point about Blog Carnival.

I also find posting insightful articles on a blog will also make my blog have more visitors and linking my best articles on popular social networking sites like twitter, facebook, and yahoo answers work as well, but make sure you read their policy or you might get banned for spaming.

Googles Feed burner looks like a good way to attract traffic as well by posting their widgets on your frontpage, and your social site profiles.

This is a great article and I’m totally with you about blog commenting. I am guilty of the ‘great article’ type response every now and again but my biggest traffic generating comments have been when I have provided value.

I use iGoogle and Google reader to alert me of the latest posts on my ‘top blogs’ where I can then visit the blog, read the post and (often) be the first to comment (and hopefully add value).

I recently added a post to my site that your readers may find of value, Blog Commenting for Traffic Generation.

Once again, good post–the question I have is: Can you point me in the right direction in regards to blog carnivals? I’d heard of them but sort of assumed they were outdated or just not that helpful…

What’s the real deal behind them? Do they actually generate some quality traffic?

Great post – packed with lots of useful and practical advice. I too enjoy making blog comments although I don’t comment as often as I would like or should. I also enjoy reading other people’s comments you can learn a great deal from other comments such as the challenges that others are facing. This can help shape the content for future info products.
