I chose this plugin as it was easier to use than some others and have had no issues at all with it. The top commentators widget is least likely to cause you any trouble since as you are building up a readership the same people tend to comment leaving the same name and links etc. I only have the top 10 commenters displayed and as such, a visitor obviously needs to leave a lot of comments to get into this top 10. If you are moderating each comment like I do then it should be fairly easy to spot who is trying to "game the system." As for my recent comments, although these are always displayed in my sidebar, they don't link away from my blog and merely point back to the relevant post. With regard to PageRank this site is PR1 since it is pretty new so I wouldn't like to comment yet on the effect of implemeting dofollow. This is something I'm monitoring on an ongoing basis.
